Join us for our ninth annual Southie Showdown! This is a two-day individual event. Our unique format of three divisions allows you to test your fitness against athletes of similar ability. There are five guaranteed workouts for all athletes, and there will be a final event for top Rx & Advanced competitors. 

Refund Policy
This event has a no refund policy. If you can no longer participate in the event, please notify us in writing by emailing info@crossfitsouthie.com (please do not text or use Facebook Messenger). Refunds will only occur if there is a wait-list in your division and we can fill your spot. We cannot guarantee any division changes after registration. Absolutely no refunds or exchanges will be made after September 7th.

Event WODS

Cardio Sandwich

Advanced & Rx 1000m Row 535m Plate Run (45,25) 1000m Row 1070 Run (unweighted) 1000m Row Intermediate 750m Row 535m Plate Run (25,15) 750m Row 1070m Run (unweighted) 750m Row Time Cap: 25 Minutes In this event, athletes will begin seated on the rower with the monitor on. Athletes may adjust the foot straps and damper however they like before the workout begins. Hands will remain off of the handle until “Go.” On each row, athletes must hold onto the handle until 1000m appears on the screen. A 3-burpee penalty will be assessed immediately for releasing the handle before reaching 1000m. During the weighted run, athletes may hold the plate however they choose. Upon completing the weighted run, athletes must return the plate to its designated spot before continuing to the rower. No passing inside the gym will be allowed. In the event that an athlete is still rowing when the 25-minute time cap is reached, the athlete must release the handle as soon as the time expires. Your score will be determined by the distance that shows on the monitor after rollover meters stop accumulating. If the rollover meters reach 1000m or more, the score will be 25:00. One second will be added for every meter not completed. If time expires while an athlete is still running, one second will be added to the cap for each uncompleted 535m run, plus one second for each meter not rowed.

Hulk Salad

In 8 Minutes, establish a max weight for the complex: 2 Power Cleans 2 Front Squats 2 Shoulder to Overhead In this event, barbells will start unloaded. Athletes are responsible for loading their own barbells and confirming their weight with their judge before each attempt. Clips are required for each attempt. Athletes can take as many attempts as they choose, and can add/remove weight from the barbell as desired. Hands must stay on the barbell for the entirety of the complex. After completing the 2 power cleans, the barbell cannot pass below the shoulders. Score: Max Weight Lifted

Athletes will be responsible for changing their own weights during the 1 minute rest period. Clips must be on the barbell in order for reps to count. This workout will be one scored event. Score will be the total of all completed reps, including thrusters and pull ups/muscle ups. If an athlete fails to make it to the burpee lateral jumps, he/she will still be given credit for the thrusters and pull ups/muscle ups completed.
