Event Details

On November 10th & 11th, CrossFit Southie will be hosting our eighth annual Southie Showdown. This is a two-day, individual competition designed for first-time competitors, fire-breathers, and everyone in between. There will be five events over the two days for everyone, and a final event for the top Advanced and Rx competitors.

Refund Policy: In the past several years, this event has sold out in less than one week. For that reason, we have a NO REFUND policy. If you can no longer participate, please send an email to info@crossfitsouthie.com. If there are wait-listed participants in your same division, an exchange may occur. In that instance, you will be refunded for your forfeited spot. We also cannot guarantee division changes after workouts have been released. Absolutely no refunds or exchanges will be made after October 31st.

Division Standards: Please see below for suggested movement standards in each of these divisions. Please note, these are simply suggestions and are not the only movements you will see during the competition. The weights listed should be able to be completed for reps, not a one rep max. There will be certain components to some workouts that will reward athletes who are proficient in higher skill movements; however, if you can hit the standards above, you will be able to compete in every event in some way.

Reverse Jerry

2000m Row 1 Mile Run 2000m Row Time Cap: 28 Minutes In the event that an athlete is still rowing when the 28 minute time cap is reached, the athlete must release the handle as soon as time expires. Your score will be determined by the distance that shows on the monitor after rollover meters stop accumulating. If the rollover meters push you over 2000m after the time cap, your score will be 28:00. One second will be added for every meter not completed.

3RM Overhead Squat

8 Minutes to Establish 3 Rep Max OHS from Rack For safety reasons, the barbell MUST be dropped to the floor in front of the athlete at the end of each rep. No lowering barbells onto the shoulders will be allowed. Athletes will be responsible for cleaning the weight or stripping weight off of the barbell to get it back on the rack; judges will not assist.
